HOME and AWAY meets
Arrive by 4:45pm for home meets and 5:15 for away meets!
Please do not put sunscreen on swimmers' upper arms as the markers used to put on swimmer numbers will not work on sunscreen!
Parent-coach-relay: Sometimes, the teams decide to have a parent-coach relay at the end of a meet. This is a playful way to end a meet with 4 parents (and coaches) from each team racing each other. The kids have a lot of fun cheering on their parents. If you like to be a part of such a relay team (with your choice of stroke), please let [email protected] know that you are interested. If the other team also has 4 parents/coaches willing to step up, the game is on! Go Barracudas!
Inclement weather: If the weather is determined to be too bad to hold the meet in a responsible timeframe, then it automatically gets postponed by 24 hours to Wednesday of the same week, same time, same location. The swimmer and volunteer line-up stays the same, it is expected that everyone will be there again. We sure hope that this doesn't happen at all! The same arrival times rules apply for the make-up meets: see details above
Important reminders for HOME meets
Parking: As a courtesy to the guests, please DO NOT park in our parking lot, but either walk, bike, take a scooter to the pool, or park in the adjacent streets. We want to leave the parking lot spaces for our guests. Kids with bikes should use the bike rack for storage. DO NOT park bikes on the grass slope leading to the pool. Thanks!
Arrival: The home team arrives between 4:30 and 4:45 p.m. as they always warm up first at 5 p.m. Please have your child onsite between 4:30 and 4:45 p.m. to get their numbers, info on which swim strokes they are swimming, and for warm-up laps. Please do not come late as the swimmers will not have a chance to warm up!
What to bring: 2 towels, sun screen, warm clothes, and a game or book, maybe an extra chair. When swimmers aren't lined up for their turn to swim, they NEED to stay in their designated area with their kid pusher(s). No running around on the pool deck or fooling around, please. Parents, please stress this when you talk to your kids about the appropriate behavior during a meet.
Order of Events
The events at a swim meet occur in the following order. Boys always swim first, followed by girls. The main event is the first race in each event and is the one that scores points for each team. This is typically where you see your fastest swimmers. There are subsequently heats for the remaining age-eligible swimmers in each event so that they continue to refine skills and can improve personal times to move into a main event in future meets.
